I opened instagram after a trying week to see that Adobe Creative Cloud selected and featured my latest piece in their first photo challenge themed “Changes.” Honestly, it is a moment and honor that I will never forget. The challenge was the perfect way to welcome the new year. It felt like the perfect way to celebrate opportunities for creative and personal growth. The transition from 2020 to 2021, while symbolic in nature, has represented a larger shift for me personally. I am viewing this year as one to grow and create unabashedly. Please hold me to it!

I created this piece, titled “Catch and Release,” using an image of myself that I captured, but hadn’t found the right moment to use. I shot it with the intention to use in a composite but at the moment, it didn’t invoke the emotion I had hope. After several dark and bleak days, amongst the rollercoaster start to 2021, I finally felt compelled to create and find a way to celebrate hope. This image was one of those that I subconsciously must have been waiting to create. It immediately came pouring together and was the cathartic release and my hope for the upcoming year.
I am beyond honored that this image captured the attention of Adobe and they also felt it signified change. Cheers to 2021!
